Hermès

La historia de la moda es un tema que me gusta muchísimo y creo que no todos sabemos sobre ella así que decidí empezar esta cápsula llamada Fashion 101 donde les voy a estar platicando sobre temas de moda que me parecen interesantes, espero les guste tanto como a mi.

Thierry Hermès

1801 – 1878

Hermès es una marca francesa conocida en todo el mundo por sus artículos de piel de alta calidad y sus accesorios. En un principio fabricaban sillas de montar para la aristocracia europea y después de 100 años de negocio, Hermès presentó bolsas, ropa y su producto estrella: las mascadas de seda.

Thierry Hermès nació en Krefeld, Alemania y en 1828 su familia se mudó a Francia, en 1837 Thierry comenzó un negocio de arneses en París donde Napoleón III y la emperatriz Eugénie fueron sus clientes. Su hijo, Charles-Émile Hermès comenzó a crecer la línea en 1879 fabricando sillas de montar, abrió una tienda en 24 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré en París donde hoy en día sigue siendo su tienda principal.

En 1920 crearon una colección de accesorios y después comenzaron a hacer ropa. En 1950 Hermès tuvo un boom con su famosa Kelly bag que ganó atención mundial gracias a la actriz Grace Kelly quien la descubrió en París en un viaje.

La segunda bolsa clásica de Hermès es la Birkin bag, fue producto de una reunión entre la actriz y cantante Jane Birkin y el jefe de Hermès, Jean Louis Dimas en un vuelo en 1981.

La mascada de seda (icónica de Hermès) fue presentada en 1937 para celebrar el centenario de la compañía y hoy en día se sigue fabricando de la misma manera, impreso en serigrafía y doblados a mano, más de 2,000 diseños se han realizado desde que comenzaron a venderlas. 

Hermès también es reconocida por sus artículos de piel hechos a mano, un solo bolso puede tardar hasta 24 horas en producirse y los bolsos de la firma tienen lista de espera de por lo menos seis meses. Hermès ha tenido dos diseñadores de alto perfil como Martin Margiela y Jean Paul Gaultier. Y un fact que aprendí es que no cualquiera puede tener una bolsa Hermès, no solo por su precio si no que también debes cumplir con ciertos requisitos.

Hermès is known around the world for its high quality leather goods and accessories. Originally they did saddler for the aristocracy of Europe and after 100 years of business, Hermès introduced bags, clothes, and their iconic product: silk scarves.

Thierry Hermès was born in Krefeld, Germany and in 1828 his family moved to France. In 1837 Thierry opened a shop in Paris where Napoleon III and Empress Eugénie were his clients. His son Charles-Émile Hermès began to grow the business in 1879 manufacturing saddles, he opened a store in 24 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, it remains as the flagship store nowadays.

In 1920, an accessory collection was created and then they introduced clothing. In 1950, Hermès had a boom when the Kelly bag was introduced thanks to Grace Kelly who discovered it on a shopping trip to Paris.

The second Hermès classic bag is the Birkin bag, which was the result of a meeting between actress and singer Jane Birkin and Hermès boss Jean Louis Dimas on a flight in 1981.

Their iconic silk scarf was first introduced in 1937 to celebrate the company’s centenary and today is still produced in the same way, being individually screen-printed and hemmed by hand; more than 2,000 designs have been made since they started selling them.

Hermès is also famous for its handmade leather goods, a single handbag can take up to 24 hours to produce and the signature bags have at least six months of waiting list. Hermès has had two high-profile designers such as Martin Margiela and Jean Paul Gaultier.
